It is not representative of the large informal areas in Bogota such as Ciudad Bolivar. It was an extreme. A total no go area for anybody who didn’t know anybody there. Time to revive this blog with some news of my trip to Australia. I was invited in Sydney for a workshop about the conversion of an industrial island into a cultural site. Cockatoo Island is located in the bay of Sydney minutes away from the center of town. It was used as a ship yard for years with up to 4000 people working days and night during WW2. It also had a prison in the middle. The prisoners were made to dig tunnels as forced labor. The island has strange decaying industrial/ghostly vibes. Very inspiring.

As far as I’m concerned Baby Cham’s Ghetto Story is the best dancehall track of the year, and trust me, given my love for the music I don’t make that claim lighty! Cham and dave Kelly teaming up on a 80’s inspired riddim; how can it get better than that you ask? tough question I concede! But I think they just topped that shit with the remix! How? The answer comes in a four letter word AKON! That’s right kids the new school senegalese griot lends his devastating vocals to a remix that may surpass the original…

Some Austrian urban mediactivists set up a fake “infobox” (photo) to inform the public about a project by Nike to build a giant (36 meter long) Nike swoosh and rename the place “Nikeplatz”. They also created a fake website and made a somewhat disturbing video. By the way, here is a good reading about “urban mediactivism” by Bauhaus Foundation curator Torsten Blume.
walking down the street on my lunch break last week, I spotted this interesting series of posters plastered in the streets of soho. iFollow…? iSheep…? iChimp…? Who was at the bottom of this stunt? Was this a motley band of anarchists rebelling against apple’s rising tide of conformity? I must admit my curiosity was piqued…
